You Were Never Yours follows an ordinary man in his early 20s whose night takes a terrifying turn when he comes face to face with another version of himself. What begins as confusion quickly turns into a fight for survival, as he’s hunted by someone who knows him better than anyone else..because it is him. A tense, stripped down thriller focused on fear, identity and survival.

A Little Bit About The Filmmaker
Do you like scary movies? And if so which ones?
Yeah, I deeply admire scary movies, they’re honestly comfort movies for me lol. Some of my favourites are The Exorcist, The Shining, Hereditary, and The Conjuring. More recently, I really loved Weapons, Longlegs and Undertone.
Who or what is the biggest influence in your film making?
As for filmmaking influences, James Wan was a huge inspiration for me while making this short film. A lot of my understanding of tension, atmosphere and horror storytelling honestly came from watching his work, especially since this was one of my first real experiences stepping into filmmaking. I’m also really inspired by Martin Scorsese, Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino, and Stanley Kubrick.
