In Deepest Fear, I explore my attraction to horror. A basic human emotion is fear. Fear comes in three forms: rational, primal, and irrational. Rational fear is when there is a genuine threat. The second fear is Primal, which is programmed into the brain. This fear is the cause of human evolution. The last fear is Irrational. This type of fear makes no logical sense and can vary from person to person. It is common for people to be afraid of things that do not exist. Kids are afraid of monsters hiding in the closet or under the bed. Adults are afraid of something sinister hiding behind the shower curtain or chasing them down the hall in the dark. Even though these types of experiences can be frightening, some people are attracted to them. They want to feel the anxiety and adrenaline course through their body.

A Little Bit About The Artist

Do you like scary movies? And if so which ones?

I enjoy scary movies, but I prefer psychological horror over graphic gore. Movies like Split, The Blair Witch Project, and Nope resonate with me because they play with your mind, gradually build suspense, and blur the line between reality and illusion. I appreciate when fear stems from atmosphere and disturbing concepts instead of relying solely on jump scares.

Who's your fave Final Girl and why?

From The Silence of the Lambs, my pick would be Clarice Starling. She’s a great “Final Girl” , though the film’s more of a psychological thriller than a traditional slasher. What makes her stand out is her intelligence, determination, and vulnerability. I like that her strength comes from persistence and empathy as much as bravery.

What is the biggest influence in your practice?

As a photographer, I am drawn to capturing the unsettling beauty in things we often overlook. My goal is to create images that linger in the viewer's mind as a result of the rawness of true events. The objective of my work is to augment reality with a psychological edge using light, composition, and atmosphere in order to create a creeping unease that is reminiscent of real horror, making fear into an art form.
