A Little Bit About The Artist

A Statement From The Artist

My work often feels like a cross fade in a film. I work with 35mm and medium format slide projectors sometimes projected onto people, final images captured with a digital or analogue camera. There is a sense of past and present colliding in the final images. I don’t use photoshop to make my images. Often I reference the sense of presenting ourselves in one light and revealing emotion or a hint at the feelings beneath the shadows. I also play with the idea of altering our appearance, largely through light and shadow. I'm interested in the female gaze to show emotion and intimacy. Miranda has an MA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins, and a BA hons in Theatre and Performance from the University of Warwick.

The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, Being John Malcovich and Fargo films.

What's is your biggest influence for your practice?

I'm influenced by Freud's ideas around the 'uncanny', and that things aren't always quite what they seem. I'm very interested in the tricks our minds play on us and how we remember. A book called 'The Architectural Uncanny' had a great influence as-well.

Dora Maar, Elsa Schiaparelli and Yevonde.
