A Little Bit About The Artist
A Statement From The Artist
I am a multimedia artist, using art to delve into the experience of womanhood. I am currently exploring using photography and film as instruments to depict my ideas and observations. I've always found comfort in the idea of "sisterhood' and my work directly correlates with that, connection to other women shared experiences.
Do you like scary movies? And if so which ones?
Yes! I love scary movies I would have to say my favourite is the ritual, I like how you are left in suspense for so long trying to figure out what’s happening. I also love any horror based in the forest, I would say that’s the scariest place to me.

Who's your fave Final Girl and why?

Sarah Carter from the descent, her transformation from being the weakest most fragile in the group (after experiencing her daughter and husbands death) to final girl was amazing to watch. The movie is very visually stunning with the red light from flares paired with the blood, once the twist in the movie happens she is separated from the rest of the group. Despite this she figures out the creatures weaknesses immediately on her own and does not hesitate to defend herself. She is also Scottish so maybe I’m biased.

What is the biggest influence in your practice?
I would say my biggest influences come from witches, recently I have focused a lot of the connection between the moon and women which led me to look into witches. With the purpose of exploring the mistreatment of women for being knowledgeable in the past, e.g midwifes as witches, and turning this into a celebration and a ritual, subverting this from being a harmful stereotype.
