Faces of Fear 1

2018

Photography

The very image of fear is abstract, mysterious and even mystical. The emphasised relativity of the boundaries between real and surreal scares, but at the same time arouses interest in cognition and analysis of mysterious images. This project was created to help the viewer in developing a way of relating to fear, through its understanding and acceptance, as a product of time. The theme of fear has never lost its relevance at any of the stages of human development. The variety of human fears is reflected in my project ‘Faces of Fear’. The phenomenon of the attractiveness of the frightening not only finds emotional and sensual expression in photographs, but also acquires a “face”. Artistic images (faces) of fear acquire a material embodiment acting as a means of communication. Imaginary being is read by the viewer based on his own psycho-emotional characteristics and cultural background.

A Little Bit About The Artist

A Statement From The Artist

My personal work explores death as part of existence. A photographic attempt to illustrate the
phenomenon of death, as well as the courage to be alive, to be faithful and sincere, knowing that the end is inevitable. In other words, my artistic practice is an attempt to accept the problematic nature of finitude of life without being suppressed by it. I use the fashion element to reflect the time, as it is one of the most important parts of the material culture. Fashion shapes an image of each character and tells their stories.

Whats your favourite monster and why?

Yes! Bram stoker's dracula 1992 is my favorite.

Do you like scary movies? And if so which ones?

As for the visual aesthetic of the series, it is worth mentioning the undoubted appeal to the painting of the 16th-17th centuries of the vanitas genre.

What’s the biggest influence on your work?

I loved Tim Burton's exhibition in Desigh Museum.
