A Little Bit About The Artist

A Statement From The Artist

I work across painting and sculpture and am interested in how objects are experienced. In particular the interplay between the natural and unnatural, manmade or ‘uncanny’, with a love of all things peculiar and unnerving… I am inspired by natural forms, ephemera and found-objects and my practice often involves a bringing-together of these things to highlight the beauty and diversity of the world around us – the curious and the wonderful. My work brings out the unique qualities of individual objects, showing how something that could be viewed as unsettling can actually be beautiful and intriguing. Nostalgia and personal memories play an important role in my work, which has a strong curatorial element, often incorporating things that I have collected and held onto for years. I especially enjoy bringing artefacts from the outside world into the domestic space to blend familiar domestic scenes with twisted, grotesque, or humorous elements.
