A Statement From The Artist

Demika Traicos is a 23 year old South African born Filmmaker, Photographer, and multidisciplinary creative based in North London. A graduate of Film and Television Production from the London College of Communication, Demika creates work that blends personal experience with a distinctly surreal, dreamlike lens - often using fantasy as a means to reframe and reimagine everyday life. ​ Influenced by elements of British surrealism, feminine mysticism, and emotionally layered storytelling, Demika’s visual language plays with tone to explore the strangeness of the familiar. Their work moves between humour and melancholy, the magical and the mundane, always grounded in a deeply personal point of view. ​ Demika is currently writing and directing their debut short film “Fleshers”, a self funded horror-comedy set during a chaotic university freshers’ week. The project features a collaborative cast and crew of emerging UK talent, and blends genre chaos with social commentary and dark humour. ​ With an evolving body of work that spans narrative film, photography, and visuals, Demika is developing a creative voice that is playful, introspective, and uniquely cinematic.
