This piece was inspired by dental anxiety. For a long time now I’ve been terrified by the idea of my teeth falling out, it’s the first thing I think about when I wake up, which is strange and discomforting. I take my dental hygiene extremely seriously but at the back of my mind I fear that I’ll eventually take it too far, and brush all my teeth out which, when saying it out loud and even writing it down, sounds ridiculous, however I wanted to document these fears in a creative way and so decided to use this topic for a photography project and capture what I thought would happen if I continue entertaining these fears.

World War II was inspired by the idea of existing in an afterlife swiftly after a sudden and traumatic death without the realisation of where you are.

A Statement From The Artist
I’m CNNTRAST, an aspiring fine art photographer. Within my practice I focus primarily on creating a deep narrative to better communicate my thoughts and feelings visually. The majority of my work involves a slightly grungy and unsettling aesthetic which helps me communicate my creative intention in a way that’s unique and peculiar.
Do you like scary movies? And if so which ones?

I do like scary movies, a few of my favourite are Child’s play (all of them, but specifically Bride of Chucky) I also enjoy a lot of Tim Burtons work if that counts, my favourite movie being Beetlejuice.

Who's your fave Final Girl and why?
Nancy Thompson.

What is the biggest influence in your practice?
​
The biggest influence in my practice is the feeling of discomfort and confusion. I enjoy creating art that makes people think and feel. Growing up I was always picked on for being the weird kid and my art allows me to channel that in a creative and unsettling way.
