A Little Bit About The Artist

A Statement From The Artist

My work explores concepts surrounding food, consumption and eating through a largely playful and colourful, but also dark, array of sculptures, drawings and film. My practice has developed alongside my recovery from an eating disorder and is very much linked to that. I want to explore the idea that food is not only nourishing and beautiful but also potentially threatening.
I have been trying to visualise the weird scenarios and interactions between the characters I create in my head. exploring the intricate relationships between food, these characters, and myself while drawing upon the weird and wonderful, humorous sides to my pieces.
Walking food! Cheese with teeth! Food fights! Exploring surreal visuals that don't always fit together, may appear out of place, or dreamlike is a key aspect of my work. This has helped me explore my artwork in a humorous and fun way, simultaneously helping me heal.
