A Little Bit About The Artist

A Statement From The Artist

Untitled-1.png

Louise Hapton is a French multimedia artist focusing on ceramics and performance around mental health, gender identity and sexuality. In her work, she challenges her inner child, a broken one - to create what she never dared to. Through her complex exploration of trauma as a neurodivergent woman, you might see a world you shall never escape from.

Tell us about a dream you've had.

I keep dreaming that I am rushing to get the Elisabeth line, which is nonsense. I never take it. Recent dreams also include eating huge amounts of sugar in all forms in my old studio flat and interrupting a royal wedding because I'm in love with the groom.
Except it begins again.

This time there is a wire suspended over the gap I am to cross, and I cling to it, dream-vision narrowed to my disembodied hands and the rope they clutch as I swing across the gulf.
There is no ending, only a leap of faith, an ejection, a tactical crash landing into the sea once again and the solid ground gives way to wave.

What's your favourite movie or tv show?
Miraculous Ladybug (the series)

What is your biggest influence on your practice?

I would say my mental health. As a psychotic person, it's so busy in my brain that I don't even have time to look at other things!
