The Early Worm
31cmX8cmX121cm
So, we’ve all heard the story about the early bird, right? The early bird catches the worm. But what about the early worm’s story? Every day, worm gets up, eats his breakfast, puts on his lab coat and goggles ready for work. He’s a soil scientist, didn’t you know? But not this morning. This morning, worm is rudely awoken by a sound. ‘Coo coo…coo coo’ What’s that? Worm gets up and goes outside to look. ‘PIGEON?!! BLOODY PIGEON!!!’ worm exclaims. Pigeon is hungry, pigeon is waiting for worm to rise from his slumber. Worms neighbour, second cousin and granny are snatched from the ground, right before his eyes.
A Little Bit About The Artist
A Statement From The Artist
Through sharing personal narratives, I aim to spark conversation on uncomfortable subject matters such as mental health. I have a curiosity and fascination with the meaning of life, the universe and everything. There are no definitive answers to my burning questions and this both frightens and excites me simultaneously.
In my practice I use a variety of mediums and materials such as painting, embroidery, crochet, pipe cleaners, beads and buttons. My making process involves collecting discarded objects and materials that become the catalyst of my ideas, as an artist it’s important to me that I reuse and
recycle. Influenced by the TV shows I watched when I was young, that I now find unsettling, I often put a dark twist on childlike themes. I would describe my artwork as creepy, crafty and colourful.
