A Little Bit About The Artist
A Statement From The Artist
“Nosey Parker” – Driven by our natural curiosity, I wanted to depict a story through each window. Everyone is living their own unique tale, and this one just happens to feature gangster grannies! Without my dreams, these ideas would never have materialised, as many concepts for these photos stemmed from vivid dreams. Dreams allowed me to explore the boundaries of reality and imagination which spiralled into what the photos have become today. My vision creates a distinctive atmosphere and brings to life the eccentric characters present in each piece. I was able to weave together the visual stories that now invite viewers to step into their own interpretations of this quirky, dreamlike world.
Tell us about a dream you've had.
This photography project started as a result of a very vivid dream I had, which had a nostalgic blend of pastel hues. My dream depicted a delayed, unrushed man, seemingly oblivious and uncaring of the hectic scene unfolding around him, as he consumes an excessively bright bowl of rainbow fruit loops. This was the foundation for this project as the image gathered from my dream became the first photo I worked on, which gradually developed into the concept of a collection of three individual pockets of life viewed through a window.

Babylon.
What is your biggest influence on your practice?
My biggest influence for the surrealism look was Miles Aldridge, from who I learnt the importance of meticulous visual storytelling. His work helped me create visually striking scenes which relied on a restricted colour palette per window and precise attention to set dressing and prop design. The framing of my shots draws heavily from Alfred Hitchcock's ‘Rear Window’ (1954), which masterfully uses composition to build tension and narrative. Additionally, Wes Anderson's unique colour grading and composition techniques have greatly influenced the aesthetic and emotional tone of my work
