A Little Bit About The Artist

A Statement From The Artist

This film was inspired by the poem "In The Desert" by Stephen Crane. I liked the surrealist imagery, the corporeal horror, the timely sentiment that humans can be inherently self-destructive, and the imp (which conjured the painting "The Nightmare" by Henry Fuseli, one of my favorite paintings.) Even though the poem was written in 1895, it felt relevant to our world today and how the heaviness of eco-anxiety can make life feel like a horror film; the dread of knowing something is coming, something is creeping up on you, and there's no stopping it.

Do you like scary movies? And if so which ones?

Suzy Bannion, because she literally walks away at the end, smiling.

I like for my films to be initially inspired by a poem or an image, because I like the process of taking the essence of creativity, of an idea, and expanding it into the world of film.
